Brain injuries can affect movement, coordination, balance, and daily functioning. Rehabilitation focuses on restoring strength, improving mobility, and helping you adapt to challenges.
Our mobile clinic in Glasgow provides specialist physiotherapy for brain injury recovery, bringing expert care to your home or community setting.
A brain injury occurs when the brain is damaged due to trauma, illness or lack of oxygen. This can happen as a result of events such as a fall, accident, stroke, infection or other neurological conditions.
Surviving a brain injury can be a life changing experience. Many people find that everyday activities suddenly become more challenging, and recovery can involve both physical and emotional adjustments.
Brain injuries affect everyone differently. Some people experience mild changes that improve relatively quickly, while others may face longer term challenges that require ongoing rehabilitation and support.
At Simpson Physiotherapy, we specialise in neurological rehabilitation and work closely with people who are rebuilding their lives after a brain injury. Our goal is to help you regain strength, confidence and control so you can return to the activities that matter most to you.
Brain injuries can lead to a wide range of physical and neurological symptoms. The type and severity of symptoms often depend on the area of the brain affected.
Common symptoms we see include:
In some cases, people may stop using a limb or movement entirely because it has become painful or difficult. This is sometimes referred to as learned disuse, where the body adapts by avoiding certain movements over time.
These changes can affect confidence and independence, particularly when everyday tasks such as walking, reaching or lifting become more difficult.
This reduction in activity can lead to a cycle where people become weaker, less confident and increasingly isolated.
At Simpson Physiotherapy, we take a personalised and practical approach to brain injury rehabilitation.
Our role as specialist neurological physiotherapists is to help rebuild strength, improve movement and manage the symptoms that may be affecting your daily life. Every rehabilitation programme is tailored around the individual and the goals that matter most to them.
Your treatment plan may include:
One of the key elements of our approach is making rehabilitation meaningful. We focus on helping you regain the ability to do the things you enjoy and value in life.
For some people this may mean improving walking or balance. For others it may mean returning to hobbies, sports or social activities that were important before the injury.
Recovery after a brain injury takes time, patience and the right support. Our team works alongside you to create a structured rehabilitation programme that helps you move forward and rebuild confidence in your abilities.
If you or a loved one has experienced a brain injury and would like to learn more about recovery, we have created a free downloadable report filled with practical advice and guidance.
Choosing physiotherapy as a career is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, I love helping people to surprise themselves at what they can achieve! If I can help to make everyday life easier for someone then I’m happy.
Outside of work I enjoy gallivanting around Scotland, I’ve just started on a project to convert a campervan for future trips. I also like to keep active through sports and walks with my dog

Hello! I am one of the Clients Relations Assistant for the practice. My background has been a mixture of jobs – I’ve been a waitress; I’ve worked in a sports memorabilia shop, and I’ve also worked in betting shops.
As you can see from my job history, I love sports! I recently gained my masters degree at Dundee University in archive and record management, and due to graduate in 2025. My goal to become an archivist and work in the medical sector! The most interesting thing about myself is probably that pre-Covid, I catalogued medical records from Edinburgh mental asylum, with the records dating back to the early 1800s. I have my Honours Degree in History.
