A Message From Fraser Simpson, Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist Neurophysiotherapist

Dear Brain Injury Survivor (and Family Member),

If any of this sounds like you or someone you care about, and you are looking for dedicated help to rebuild your life after a brain injury, you have come to the right place.

Many people who have survived a brain injury in Glasgow don't reach their full potential because they’ve been told:

The Truth Is...

At Simpson Physiotherapy, we are Neuro and Older Adult Specialist Physiotherapists. We help brain injury survivors make meaningful progress in their walking, balance, arm function, and daily confidence. We want to help you live as active, independent, and fulfilling a life as possible.

We know it can feel overwhelming trying to decide where to turn for specialist neuro-physiotherapy after a brain injury:

The biggest fear many survivors and families face is: What happens if I don’t get the right help?

Most people feel stuck, waiting weeks, months, or years without a clear rehab plan. Getting the right support from a dedicated Specialist Neuro Physiotherapy team is VITAL to getting the absolute most out of your recovery.

How We Help You Recover: 3 Simple Steps

We want to ensure we are the right team to help you before you commit to an appointment. Here is how our process works:

Step #1 - We Want (and need) to Listen to Your Story

Healthcare systems are often stretched and time-pressured, leaving little room for in-depth conversations. But brain injuries are complex, and understanding your specific journey is essential.

We take the time to listen to your goals, concerns, and day-to-day challenges. If we aren’t the best fit for your needs, we will tell you honestly during our initial call.

Step #2 - Find YOUR UNIQUE SOLUTION

No two brain injuries affect the body in the exact same way. What works for someone else may not work for you.

Together, we look at:

  • What recovery you have already achieved.

  • Your personal goals (e.g., getting back to walking outdoors, returning to work, or managing fatigue).

  • Physical factors contributing to balance issues, weakness, or pain.

  • What strategies have worked—and haven’t worked—for you in the past.

We then create a tailored rehabilitation plan designed specifically for your physical capabilities and lifestyle.

Step #3 - SUPPORT YOU IN THE WAY YOU NEED TO HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS

Our treatment plan and appointments are built around you and your individual needs and capabilities.

Have you ever been in the situation where the journey to and from an appointment tires you out so much, or causes so much stress and hassle, that you decide not to go? Or you struggle to get out of the house, so going to a clinic appointment is out of the question?

We understand that this is a significant problem faced by many brain injury survivors. That is why we come to you! We provide home visits and video consultations for all of the people we support. This is hugely beneficial in helping you maximise your energy for our sessions and get the most out of therapy.

No more having to rely on friends and family or patient transport to get to your appointments. No having to combat traffic and being at the mercy of roadworks and traffic jams!

Q. What if I need someone with me more than once a week to help me practice my exercises because I won’t be able to do them on my own?
A. No problem, we absolutely provide a support package that works for you to help you get the best out of your therapy. We currently have clients who have 2 to 3 home visits a week, and others who we support through online video consultations.

Q. I don’t live in or near Glasgow, where you provide home visits, will Video Consultations work for me?
A. That is a great question, we will only be able to answer that after we have had a chance to speak with you and possibly do a trial video consultation. What I can say, is that we a using video consultations with several stroke survivors and they are having some terrific results.

Our Home Visit and Video Consultations help you maximise your ability and energy to work on what’s most important to you… living an active and independent life after surviving a stroke.

You only get one chance at living your best life after surviving a brain injury, we want to help you make the most of it!

Sincerely,

FRASER SIMPSON

What Other People Just Like You Are Saying About Simpson Physiotherapy in Glasgow...

David L, Glasgow: Overcame balance & falls issues.

I have been receiving treatment from Simpson Physio for a few months now. My problems were with walking, managing stairs, balance, and shortness with my left leg. With exercises from Simpson Physio and suggesting insoles I am now doing a lot better with walking and stairs. I would also so recommend Simpson Physio home appointments as it makes things more relaxed in your own home.

Jacqueline C, Glasgow: Overcame neuropathy.

I have been suffering badly from neuropathy following chemotherapy treatment and have been very debilitated, almost immobile. Since working with Simpson Physio for approx two months, my condition has improved immeasurably, so much so that I’m now able to get around unaided and get up and downstairs. I would highly recommend Simpson Physio as he is an excellent practitioner as well as a very caring person.

Lynda G, Glasgow: Overcame balance & falls issues.

l met Simpson Physio about 2 years ago. l was in a care home recovering from a brain injury. l had been in bed for the best part of 2 years. l had contractures in my ankles, knees and pelvis. Encouraged by Simpson Physio l began to mobalise. lt was gradual, painful at times; however l am now independant in my own home. Simpson Physio’s knowledge of brain injury made my journey possible.
